This book is based on the true story of how the Abbott family discovered and came to terms with their youngest daughter’s hearing loss. Narrated through the lens of an attuned older sister, Padapillo reveals the common overlooked signs of unidentified hearing loss and describes many of the emotions family members experience when a child’s hearing difference is diagnosed. This book won a Moonbeam Children’s Book Award for excellence in storytelling in 2022 and set the stage for what became the national Late Onset Hearing Loss Awareness Campaign.
